Paintings ofthe restlessMaine coast.

I’m Warren Harden, and I paint the sea I grew up on — the harbors, headlands, and working waterfront of Downeast Maine, in original oils.

The Collections

Two ways of seeing the same water

Each series approaches the coast from a different distance — one through feeling and gesture, the other through memory and place. Both begin on the water I know best.

About Me

Raised by the tide

I grew up in the small town of Winter Harbor, Maine, and from my earliest years I was fascinated by the ocean and its wonders. I always felt drawn to the water and looked for every chance to be closer to it — working with the local harbor master cleaning boats and delivering town maps, and experiencing life as a sternman on a lobster boat.

None of those experiences has been more rewarding than my current pursuit of art. Now, at 23 years old, I’m striving to capture the beauties of creation through my work.

“I believe that God is the true artist, and painting His creation helps me pay homage and feel more connected to His wonders.”

Art has been a lifelong passion, but it wasn’t until 2020 that I began painting in my dorm room at university. After I started sharing my work in 2022, things grew quickly — and I fell in love with creating pieces inspired by my beautiful hometown. My paintings now hang in multiple locations around Winter Harbor and its surrounding communities, and I’ve shown often in town, including an exhibit at Hammond Hall in the fall of 2024.

Looking ahead, I’m excited about what the future holds and committed to continually refining my abilities. My goal is to capture the essence of our beautiful surroundings and share it with others through my art.
